Colorado has some excellent ski resorts, and you are bound to be able to find one to suit you. Below are some of the possible choices, to help you make your decision about where to go for your winter sports vacation.
Snowmass
Another spot which many claim to be the best in Colorado for winter sports. Snowmass is just 15 miles distant from Aspen, and its variety of ski slopes are especially suited to the intermediate and advanced skier. As well as these, there are a couple which are suitable for beginners, however this is not really the spot for newcomers to the sport. It is ideal for snowboarders, however, having three snowboarding parks, and it is also excellent for other winter sports, such as speed skating.
Copper Mountain
Many people who enjoy winter sports consider this to be Colorado’s top ski spot. It has a great variety of slopes to choose from, from the gentle beginners’ ones to challenging ones for the more advanced skier. If you are an experienced skier, don’t worry about there being no challenge here for you!
Steamboat Springs
Half of the 164 slopes here are perfect for skiers of intermediate experience. With so many slopes you will never be short of places to go and things to do to fill your day. Steamboat Springs is easily reached as it is near a major airport, and you will have no traffic trouble on the roads leading to the resort.
Winter Park
This is the place to go for the expert skier or snowboarder who likes challenge. There are over a hundred slopes to choose from, and 63% of these are for the expert. Some are amongst Colorado’s steepest ski slopes, so you can see how exciting as well as challenging these would be for the advanced skier or snowboarder.
However, even the expert skier is required to attend an orientation class, owing to the dangerous nature of some slopes here. Having done this class, you also have to sign a waiver which absolves the resort from responsibility for any accident which might befall you on the more dangerous sections.
These are just some of Colorado’s more popular ski resorts. If you are planning a winter sports trip, then you are sure to find something to delight you in Colorado, no matter what your experience level.
