New York With Teens – Teenagers Can Have Fun in New York City Too

New York City is often thought of a city for both children and adults, but what about teenagers? They have just as much to do in a city this large. From Central Park to the Pier 25 Skate Park, you can find plenty of things to keep your teenagers occupied on a vacation to New York City.

The skate parks are actually very popular in New York. Pier 26 opens at 2pm on weekdays, and 10am on weekends, and is free. You must wear helmets though if you are under 18 years old. Located at the Hudson River Park, it is great just to go watch some of these very talented skaters. Riverside Park also offers a skate park which is free. Requiring full safety gear for everyone, it opens between 10am and 11am Wednesday through Sunday. Finally you have the Millennium Skate Park which is located at Owl’s Head Millally Park in the Bronx, Midland Beach in Staten Island, and Forest Park in Rockaway. All are worth the trip to so that your teenager can enjoy some time with people of their own age.

If your teenager is more the type that wants to sunbathe and meet some guys, you may want to head to the beaches nearby to New York City. There are about 20 beaches in all, including Breezy Point, Coney Island, Jones Beach, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach and Brighton just to name a few. However, if you go to Coney Island you can do more than just sunbathe. As one of the oldest amusement parks on the East Coast, there are plenty of special events, the Coney Island Museum which costs just 99 cents to enter, and then other sideshows that have various fees. It is a great time for the entire family.

Some other great tourist types of attractions that teens really enjoy are located in Times Square. Along with the fabulous shopping and great atmosphere you can take them to The Hard Rock Café, Planet Hollywood, or any number of great restaurants and hang outs. South Street Seaport’s Pier 16 is also great for teenagers. They have speedboat rides that cost $14 for children and $20 for adults.

If your teenager loves to read, then by all means head to the New York Public Library, or any of the many hundreds of bookstores that are located throughout New York City. There are local listings of book readings, signings, and even poetry readings in the newspaper that will let her know where to go to meet or see her favorite author.

Lastly, don’t forget that she may be interested in performing arts or the theater. Besides Broadway, there are plenty of off Broadway shows that could pique her interest in musicals, dramatic readings, or even one man shows.

New York has it all, and there is certainly something that your teenager will enjoy doing. Just take the time to look for that something special.

Ever since Georgia hosted the Olympic Games in 1996, Georgia’s attractions became well-known around the world and not surprisingly, the state has become one of the top tourist destinations. Folks simply love the year-round calm balmy weather that induces total relaxation, most especially in the nights of spring and fall. During the day, the colors of fall and the new greens of spring, while ruffled by the gentle breezes, project a universe of change and renewal, and thus of hope for a tomorrow.

But aside from the weather’s effect, there are several very interesting places in Georgia you may want to visit, along with the kids especially; they will undoubtedly enjoy the excursion. Top places in the itinerary should include the Georgia aquarium, the Coca-Cola plant, the mountains and the theme park. It can be an exhausting but nevertheless an exhilarating voyage of discovery for the children and most probably the adults, too.

Taking a look at Some of the Top Georgia Destinations

* First stop is the Georgia Aquarium. Built several years back, it offers a plethora of underwater scenes and views of various fishes in their simulated habitat. So many people from other states or countries tour the aquarium —it being the largest aquarium in the world today— that it is best to go there weekdays, when there are relatively fewer number of visitors. The Georgia Aquarium is probably the only place in the country where you can see the largest number of fishes without getting yourself wet!

* Next to the Aquarium is the Coca-cola Museum, and often Coke gives the visitor a free taste of its products. If you like soda pops, you can have a drop of Coke right at the Museum while unraveling the history of the development of Coca-cola and Coke, which can also be a nostalgic trip down the days past.

* If you love spectacular vistas you can drive up the Georgia mountains. Go to Mt. Helen, shop and dine in fine restaurants there, including the famous, evilly delicious fudge. A trip to Mt. Helen with the popular fudge will be something to remember. Or, if it is summer, you can get into a tube and float down Chattahooche River, exploring its wilderness scenes while bumping about the waves. It can be revealing from a fish’s point of view.

* Afterwards you can hike all the way up Stone Mountain, famous for its granite rocks and beautiful park. You can explore them, then wait for nightfall to see from the mountain’s roads the laser show. You can’t miss the Stone Mountain: it can be seen from many places in Atlanta, Georgia. Alternatively, Savannah is a historic city filled with museums, old houses, great restaurants, and beautiful beaches.

* Lastly, there is Six Flags, a contemporary theme park. If you love wild rides, Six Flags is the place to go to; if you prefer tamer ones and great shows, Six Flags is still the place to visit. Either way, one day at Six Flags may not be enough to savor all it can offer.

Tourists in their millions visit Georgia every year, mostly for its comforting weather, random snippets of history, spectacular highland views and superb dining. But there are others reasons besides, and at least one of them may be yours to discover.

Among the millions of tourists that flock to Georgia each year are entire families, complete with children and parents. They come because Georgia offers a hundred and one ways to let the kids enjoy the day, from riding wild rides at the theme park, to exploring the eerie cemeteries; from understanding its history, to kayaking the river estuaries. Savannah Gardens, one of the top Georgia destinations, can offer an educational, exhausting, adventurous and exhilarating day for children as well as parents.

A day tour of the city can, first, be arranged just to get the feel of the place. There are the architectural wonders and landmarks of history to see, the cobblestoned streets to clatter on, the carriage tour and the trolley rides to enjoy. More than 50 tour operators are ready to offer you their services, all of them reliable and experienced. Don’t forget to include the Savannah Gardens in your itinerary: it is a semi-wilderness for children to explore and wonder at. Don’t leave them alone for too long, though.

Monterey in California is a gorgeous, relaxing and slow paced place. Monterey Bay aquarium is actually known as one of the world’s greatest and leading research places for marine life. There is actually a two storey otter tank that is definitely a must see when you visit Monterey Bay in California.

There are plenty of original adobes in downtown Monterey and the clay buildings are great reminders of how rich the history was here. You can have guided tours around the buildings and also have a guided tour through the city if you so wish.

Downtown is Fisherman’s Wharf; here is the finest and freshest seafood known to man. Restaurants line the front so you can sample the delights of freshly caught and cooked fish.

Although the daily activities of Maui are exciting and enjoyable, the nightlife on Maui is just as exhilarating. Whether you are looking for dining, dancing, music, culture, or even more tourist attractions this island comes alive after dark.

Before you head out for the night, you want to make one stop first. The summit of Haleakala, Maui’s only active volcano, provides an amazing area in which to view a stunning Maui sunset. By simply going to the CVB website, you can print your ticket and start saving immediately. Just keep in mind that there are some blackout periods which are usually holidays and the most popular times to visit such as school vacations. You can usually find out if it is eligible when you mention the card when making reservations.

The CVB allows you to see all the attractions and hotels that Orlando offers. You can buy your multi-park hopper passes, and other packages if you are interested in more than just one theme park, because in Orlando alone there are about 12 parks to choose from. The best thing about the CVB is that they have an official travel counselor standing by if you need answers to any of your most common questions regarding specific attractions, hotels, and events that are going on in the Orlando area. They are a wealth of information, and you should definitely take advantage of their knowledge of the area.

Just by researching the Internet you can find discounts on five or seven day hopper passes which can save you a lot of money. Tickets, when bought at the park, can average up to $72.00 per day if bought separately, whereas there are many deals on the Internet that will have you pay only about $32.00 per day on average when you buy a five or seven day ticket.

Don’t forget, that on some travel websites such as Orbitz and Expedia, you can combine your airfare, hotel, and attractions to get a better price. Although occasionally it can be less expensive to purchase everything separately, you may be able to get a better discount when you purchase it all together. If you still haven’t found an inexpensive way to visit Orlando, try talking to a travel agent who often has deals that can’t be found elsewhere. Going to Orlando doesn’t have to break the bank, if you know how to find the best deals.

Top Louisiana Destinations- Baton Rouge

The second largest city and Louisiana’s capital, Baton Rouge is an amalgam of the old and the new, having traces of its history as well as modern constructions. It is the political, economic, industrial, petrochemical and shipping center of Louisiana, being located on the Mississippi River, which was long used as a transportation highway in the southeast United States. Despite developments, the city has retained its Southern flavor, creating an atmosphere of mystery and contradictions. This in turn intrigues visitors and tourists, making it one of the top Louisiana destinations.

Showcases of Nature

Baton Rouge takes pride in its Baton Rouge Zoo which displays about 1,800 animal species to delight the adults and children. It has mini-parks —Parrot Paradise, L’Aquarium de Louisienne, The Otter Pond— that showcase specific animal environments, while the Kids’ Zoo gives children hands-on opportunities with tamed animals and time in the playground.
