Vaccinations for your trip to Europe
When you go to Europe on your holiday or for a long trip, you need to see your doctor to make sure that you don’t need any vaccinations. You may already have a health condition; and if you do you need to make sure that it won’t be affected when you get to your destination. Going to see your doctor before you travel anywhere is a good and safe idea for everyone.
There are usually 3 different types of injections and vaccinations that you may need to have before traveling anywhere in Europe. These are the following;
* Routine vaccinations
* Recommended vaccinations
* Required vaccinations
You need to see your doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel to Europe so that any vaccinations you need to have are effective before you leave. This will then of course give you more chance of being safe and protected when you’re travelling.
The routine ones are tetanus, and also the diphtheria vaccinations. These are needed by every adult at least every ten years. If they are not up to date or they are seriously overdue then you won’t be safe when you’re travelling to Europe. Children have regular vaccinations so make sure they are not due for any while you are away on vacation.
There are actually no vaccinations that are required when you’re travelling to Europe as it is not considered an unsafe place to travel to. Your doctor however may think you are required some vaccinations if your health is poor. Hepatitis A and B vaccinations may be prescribed by your doctor or health professional. Hepatitis A can be passed on through touch therefore it is vital you have the shot to be safe, it can be actually quite common in Europe so it is better to be prepared.
Hepatitis B is contracted through medical care, through blood transfusion and sexual encounters with people who have it already. Be safe when travelling and discuss having the vaccination with your doctor and use your common sense when travelling to Europe.
You may also be told to have the avian flu vaccination. This can be quite common in Europe and it may be beneficial o have the vaccination. Always tell your doctor exactly where you’re planning to go and what you’re going to do when you get there. This will then let your doctor decide what is better for you when you’re travelling.
Also take with you a list of all your medication that you may be on and get all the proper and official names for the medication. You may need to get more while you are travelling so you need to know exactly what it is you are taking with you. You could always get an extra prescription for your medication to take with you so that you won’t run out when you’re travelling.
Always stay safe when you’re travelling to Europe and be open and honest with your doctor before you travel anywhere.
