Romantic European Hotels of Choice

The enjoyment of any intended romantic vacation in Europe (and everywhere else) depends largely on the accommodations one has. While one can sleep in a tent and enjoy it, a good bed and safe surroundings account far more than considered seriously in having a perfect vacation. More often than not, they even make or break a vacation so much so that accommodations constitute a very significant role in enjoying Europe, all the historical and romantic places notwithstanding.

When thinking of Europe for a vacation, therefore, it is best to consider the places you’d want to stay while there. Following are several recommendable hotels in their respective countries, where you can expect perfect service and a-one amenities.

Hotel Splendido, Portofino, Italy

As the hotel’s name implies, it offers guests a splendid view of the harbor and the anchorage —its yachts jostling with fishing boats— and a forest of cypress. The seascape and verdant woodland suggest solitude on top of the world, the honeymooners being Adam and Eve in a luxurious Garden of Eden, complete with excellent service rating. First choice.

Hotel Cipriani, Venice, Italy

Off the usual tourist tracks but offers the best in Venetian cuisine, luxurious in accommodation and perfect in service. Very appropriate for lovers who want to have the world to themselves.

La Residencia, Dela Mallorca, Spain

It is a spa, a resort and a seaside luxury hotel. Nestled at the foot of Sierra Tramuntana and offers a magnificent view of the Mediterranean Sea. Highly recommended for couples who love the salt water.

Orient Express

Not exactly a hotel, but a long-ride train with hotel accommodations. It traverses Europe and ends in Asia (hence the name), going through several countries and cities, giving an effortless tour of interesting places, from modern cities to rustic countryside. A very romantic ride for lovers who want a vacation different from the boring usual. Made very famous by Agatha Christie’s mystery novel, “Murder on the Orient Express”.

Villa San Michele, Florence, Italy

Formerly a monastery, it sits on top of a hill and gives a spectacular view of Florence. The villa’s Renaissance architecture offers solitude and a feeling of the past in the halls and chambers, as well as in the terraced rose gardens and lemon trees that look eternal and ancient. Accommodations may be in al fresco loggia, and the cuisine is authentic Tuscan. Top choice for more private persons who shun the limelight and crowds.

Lapa Palace Hotel, Lisbon, Portugal

Popular with artists hungry for inspiration, aristocrats wanting some privacy and politicians seeking a respite from the rat race. The room rates are quite reasonable and include breakfast. This hotel is located on top of a hill and is just right for lovers who may also want to meet famous persons as part of their stay.

These hotels are just a few of the possible places romantic couples can spend their European vacation. All offer views and solitude in varying degrees, but are perfect in accommodation and service. There are of course many more hotels in Europe for hopeless romantics but these are considered tops in their class. Why settle for less? Romance is sweeter in such surroundings.

  1. Hi. I stumbled across this site by accident and was happy that I did. My sister and some others have begun doing a significant amount of online research for apartments in Italy and where to stay and what not. Anyways, thanks for the information – glad I searched it by accident and will share. With research I started compiling info about Tuscany apartments in my blog.
