Making your trip to Europe safer

You may be brimming with excitement over your trip to Europe, and so you should be. Be aware however that you need to be safe at all times to make sure nothing goes wrong on your dream trip to Europe. There may be the chance that you can’t actually avoid some of the things that may go wrong and you may not be able to control them properly; take for example if your are mugged or robbed. You can however prepare some things just in case anything like this does happen; so if it does you can be safe knowing you did some things beforehand.

Make sure you have everything you need for your trip to Europe; such as your passport, your visas, any vaccinations you might have to have, travel electric al adapters and such like. If you prepare accordingly to the country you are travelling to, you are more likely to have a safer journey and holiday.

Always make double copies of everything that relates to your money and finances, your hotel bookings and flight details (flight there and your return flight). Always get copies of your credit cards, your passport, any visas you may have and any other important information that you can think of. Give one copy to someone you know and trust at homer, either a family member or a friend and you have the other copies with you. Make sure you keep your copies somewhere safe, on your person is not a good idea, but the hotel that you are staying in may offer a safe to use to store any such important documents.

Another wise thing to do before you travel on holiday to Europe is to make sure your credit card companies know you are travelling abroad for x amount of time. You credit card companies may refuse transactions that are shown to be from a different country if you don’t tell them first. This could leave you in an extremely tricky situation indeed.

If you’re going to a country in Europe that follows strict clothing or behavior guidelines then make sure you always stick to these no matter what. Not doing so could potentially get you into a lot of trouble on what should be an enjoyable trip. Make sure you leave all unnecessary valuables at home, do you really need to travel in all the bling?! This may stop people being attracted to what you have and trying to mug or rob you for it.

You could register your holiday with the US embassy. This means that if anything happens while you are on holiday you have a point of contact if anything goes wrong. The US embassy could be your lifeline in a serious situation. Knowing where they are located in Europe is also important for your trip.

Stay safe and smart when you’re going on holiday to Europe; you could check with the local US embassy if there are any travel warnings about where you’re travelling to just to make sure.
