How to deal with jet lag efficiently
When you’re traveling to Europe on your holidays; you travel through various time zones on your way there. This can leave you with a dreadful first day of your holidays and maybe more as you recover and get used to the new time zones. Then you have to go through it all again when you travel back home to the States. Don’t despair to much however as there are many ways to help you get over jet lag very quickly or perhaps not suffer at all. You should always know a lot about where you are traveling to on your holidays in Europe; make sure you don’t leave preparing for jet lag out of your entire trip preparations.
A great way to help you not get any jet lag is to sleep during the flight. You may have problems sleeping on planes and during the flights so try and over the counter sleeping remedy. Don’t use them for the first time when you fly however; try them at home first and make sure you have no adverse reactions to them. They can be carried on the plane in your hand held luggage so you then have them at only an arm’s reach away if you need them.
Many people have recommended melatonin to use when you fly to help overcome jet lag. Again always try it beforehand to make sure you don’t have any reactions that are unwanted to the remedy. It can cause side effects such as nausea, sickness, and can sometimes in extreme cases cause serious nightmares and night terrors.
Have you thought about changing your sleeping routine before you actually go on holiday? Start trying to sleep on your holiday destinations time zone and get used to it before you even get there. When you’re traveling to Europe for your holidays, get up earlier in the morning than normal and go to bed earlier at night. When you’re traveling back again, simply reverse the actions and get used to your own time zone again.
If you do get to your holiday destination and you do have jet lag then keep yourself safe by resting before you push yourself too hard. You may make yourself feel ill if you keep trying to push through the jetlag, take time to rest before you start going out and exploring your destination.
Jet lag can make you less aware of what is happening around you and make you venerable and a prime suspect for mugging and pick pockets. If you don’t think that you’re up to going out and shopping, eating or whatever it is you want to do; then don’t. Take time to rest and recuperate as your health and safety is paramount when in a foreign country.
Don’t start handling money and currency exchanges when you’re feeling low and jet lagged; you are a prime suspect for being scammed or a victim of crime. Take your first day to sit in the hotel or your room and just take in your surroundings and get used to where you are.
