That’s because there are plenty of ways in which you can save money.

We are all aware of the poor state of the economy at present. Basic commodity prices are rising, unemployment is high, and a number of companies are having to close down. This has cause many people to scrap any plans for a vacation. But everyone needs to relax, and the best way to do this is to have a vacation.

So, money is tight, but you can recession proof your vacation in Montana, simply by only spending a limited amount of money on your stay.

Firstly, you can save on your accommodation by staying in a budget hotel. You will find lots of these in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Missoula and White Fish. There are also plenty of affordably priced activities that you can enjoy during your stay.

Even more money can be saved on your accommodation if you choose to stay in a vacation rental home. These are much cheaper than hotels, if you are traveling with a group of people. This means that you can share your expenses. A cheap hotel room is the best choice for people traveling on their own, however.

Still cheaper options for accommodation is to stay at one of the many campgrounds and RV parks around Montana. Here you can stay the night for just ten dollars or so. Compare this with the fifty or more dollars per night which a hotel room would cost. Some of these places have showers, hookups and potable water available.

Even better than all of this is that whilst you are on vacation in Montana you could even make money. This state is often referred to as the Treasure State, and you can pan for sapphire or gold here. This is lots of fun, even if you don’t make yourself any money from it.

The Glacier National Park is a must visit location during your stay in Montana. The glaciers here developed in the last ice age, and you can hike around these and have fun exploring. There are a number of bed and breakfast places and lodges where you can stay here, or you can find accommodation in nearby towns such as Kalispell, Whitefish and Polson.

Head to the western part of the state if you enjoy skiing. Both downhill and cross country skiing are available at Missoula, or try Bozeman, which is renowned for the amazing skiing it offers. Whitefish, however, is the place for the best skiing to be found in Montana.

These are just a few options for things to do in Montana. You can really have lots of fun and enjoy a memorable time here on your vacation, without spending a fortune. All you need to do is a little careful planning, and you have your recession proof vacation.
