Recession Proof Vacations: Missouri

The current economy is at a low point, its lowest in fact since the Great Depression. Many people might feel that this means that a vacation is out of the question. Don’t let the state of the economy put you off, however, because you can in fact have a recession proof vacation in the state of Missouri.

Increasing numbers of people are visiting Missouri these days for their vacations. Why is this so? Well, there are so many fun activities you can do here, as well as great places to see. Best of all, many of these activities cost you nothing, which means everybody can have fun in this state and not spend a fortune.

One place in Missouri with lots of things to do at no cost is Branson. This place has unique history as well as a number of outdoor attractions, so that you can assure every person in your group of a great time. Don’t believe anyone who tells you you have to spend a lot to have fun. Here in Missouri, that certainly isn’t true.

Another place that is a must to visit when you are spending a vacation here is the Table Rock Dam. This dam, completed in 1958, and its construction resulted in the creation of Table Rock Lake, a spot which is very popular with tourists to the state.

This lake is a spot you are bound to love, in fact it’s an outdoor wonderland. Lovers of the outdoors from around the country visit this place to take part in water sports, including scuba diving, swimming, water skiing and fishing. Apart from the water sports you can enjoy other outdoor activities such as hiking along the many trails which lead round the lake, and camping.

If you are traveling with the family and looking for a relaxing spot, you should visit Moonshine Beach on Table Rock Lake. Here you can soak up the fantastic view whilst you enjoy swimming and the sunshine by the lake.

Another lake you should see when in Missouri is Lake Taneycomo. This is an especially good spot for those who enjoy fishing. It’s also great for just relaxing in the sunshine, or for boating and hiking enthusiasts.

A particularly beautiful spot in Missouri is Henning State Forest, which is a park covering some 1,534 acres. This is a great spot for the keen naturalist, with plenty of nature walks and opportunity for studying nature, as well as some stunning scenery.

At the College of the Ozarks you can enjoy the lovely paths and fountains set amongst the beautiful landscaped grounds. Free tours of the Ralph Foster Museum and Edwards Mill are also well worth taking advantage of.

There are lots of things for the tourist to see and do in Missouri. In fact these are just the things to do in Branson; there are many other things to enjoy elsewhere in the state. Missouri, then, must be at the top of your list of places to go for your recession proof vacation.
