Recession Proof Vacations: Maryland, the Old Line State

Maryland is a state where you can have a great vacation, particularly if you want to visit a place which has a rich culture and history. If a recession proof vacation is what you need, as a result of the current economic situation, then below are some tips to help you to achieve this in Maryland.

Firstly, don’t make the mistake of choosing an expensive hotel to stay in. You can have a great time on your vacation without spending a fortune on accommodation. There are lots of vacation home rental and bed and breakfast places, as well as inns, in Maryland, which are much more affordably priced. Choosing this type of accommodation will save you hundreds of dollars each night of your stay.

You will also be able to find lots of fun activities to do during your stay in Maryland, which also don’t cost much. Whatever you enjoy doing, from enjoying the great outdoors to browsing around museums, Maryland has what you need to experience a perfect holiday.

Western Maryland is the place to go if you enjoy adventure sports, because the Adventure Sports Center International is here. All kinds of exciting adventure sports can be enjoyed here, including a whitewater course covering 1/3 of a mile. Wild nature, combined with high technology, means plenty of thrills and excitement!

If you have your kids with you, the Eastern Shore is a must, especially the 65th Street Slide & Ride. There are lots of fun things for kids, in fact the whole family, to enjoy here, including splash boats, paint ball shooting, water wars, kiddie slide and water slides.

The Chesapeake Beach Water Park in Southern Maryland is another great spot for families. Here there are six small water slides and two large ones, as well as water volleyball, amongst other fun water activities. For people traveling with groups, the park offers group discount prices.

If you are a lover of the outdoors, there are lots of hiking and biking trails around Maryland for you to explore. The history lover will enjoy hiking around the Antietam National Battlefield in Western Maryland. One of American history’s bloodiest battles is commemorated here.

Assateague Island National Seashore is also well worth paying a visit. This is a barrier island which measures 37 miles in length and has some of the country’s most beautiful beaches. Here you can see birds and other wild animals in their natural surroundings. There are even wild ponies here, and there are lots of nature trails to explore. You can camp here, too.

These are just a few examples of places to see and things to do in Maryland. You can see that Maryland is a place where you can have lots of fun on your vacation, no matter what you are interested in. The best part is that you can really have a recession proof vacation here, because many of the activities are affordably priced, and in some cases even free.
