If you are considering taking a safari, you may want to consider the great adventure you would have at the Buffalo Safari Camp. The Buffalo Safari Camp is located on the Kapama Private Game Reserve in South Africa. Here you will stay in tents, and enjoy the nearby excursions you will take to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, as well as the Kruger National Park. Both are truly one-of-a-kind experiences that will show you the best of what nature has to offer. Unfortunately this is not as family safari, as children under the age of 12 are not permitted.
The main reason that people take the Buffalo Safari excursion is because of the elephant safari. This is where you ride on the back of an elephant with the safety of a trained guide. During your trip you will learn about how to interact with the animals in their natural habitat while you get a great view of the wildlife that is surrounding the elephant. You will literally be able to touch the trees as you graze by them, and see things that you normally wouldn’t see in your lifetime. Exclusive to the Kapama Game Reserve, these twelve trained African Elephants have been rescued from Zimbabwe where they were in danger of being killed.
During your camping safari you will also spend time taking game drives which have you sitting in open safari vehicles driven by game rangers. Make sure to have your camera ready as you come in close contact to the many African mammals such as the wild dog, mongoose, jackal, hyenas, monkeys, bush pigs, baboons, and the striped polecat which is only the beginning of what you will be able to see.
You will also be taken to the nearby Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre which is one of the world’s leading centers for research and preservation of endangered animals. Although its primary focus is on the cheetah, Barbary lion, and wild dogs, their research goes a long way to helping animals all over the local area and the world. You will be able to see these animals as well as watch the feeding and caring of these wonderful and precious animals.
The accommodations are quite modern considering you are in the heart of a South African gaming reserve. You will have large air conditioned suites that include state of the art equipment for all of your modern everyday needs. Kapama Private Game Reserve prides itself on not only giving you an education trip, but they want you to relax and enjoy yourself inside of the reserve itself. During the day they offer plenty of activities on the reserve such as picnics, clay pigeon shooting, and other guest activities. Their goal is to make you feel comfortable while you are learning about best wildlife that Africa has to offer.
